多年生草本；根直伸。茎多丛生，具棱，高20-50厘米，除花序外全株近无毛。羽状复叶长5-10厘米，有7-13片小叶；叶柄长1-2厘米，上部的叶柄极短；托叶膜质，中部以下合生，披针形，长6-12毫米，宽2-4毫米；小叶长圆形，椭圆形或近圆形，长5-15毫米，宽3-10毫米，先端钝或微凹，基部宽楔形或近圆形，两面无毛，具短柄。总状花序稍密，有花10余朵；花序轴疏被棕色或黑色柔毛，于花后伸长；总花梗较叶长2-3倍；花梗长1-2毫米，密被柔毛；花萼钟状，长6-7毫米，外面被棕色或黑色伏贴柔毛，萼齿钻形，长约为萼筒的1/2；花冠淡黄色，旗瓣长圆形，长15-16毫米，先端微凹，基部具短瓣柄，翼瓣长约13毫米，瓣片狭长圆形，宽约2毫米，先端钝圆，基部具短耳，瓣柄长约5毫米，龙骨瓣最短，长9-10毫米，瓣片半卵形，瓣柄长约5毫米；子房线形，无毛，具短柄。荚果狭卵形，长约16毫米，宽约6毫米，两端尖，表面无毛，具网纹，1室，果颈与萼筒近等长，种子5-6颗，肾形，长约1毫米，暗褐色。花期5-6月，果期8-9月。
产河北小五台山（模式标本产地）。生于海拔1500-2700米的山坡、石隙及沟旁湿处。

Astragalus saxicola Ulbrich.
Plants 20-35 cm tall, vegetative parts subglabrous, with hairs 0.3-0.5 mm. Stems at base up to 3 mm thick. Leaves 4-9 cm; lowest stipules acuminately ovate, ca. 6 mm, upper ones narrowly triangular, 8-12 mm, all or only lower ones high vagi-nate-connate behind stem; rachis subglabrous, only at insertion of leaflets mostly with a small tuft of short white or rarely blackish hairs; leaflets in 3-7 pairs, elliptic, 10-22 × 3-10 mm, abaxially grayish green with darker venation, adaxially dull green, apex rounded to emarginate. Racemes densely many flowered, strongly elongated, up to 12 cm in fruit; peduncle 8-14 cm, glabrous; bracts whitish, linear-acuminate, 5-6 mm, sparsely black hairy. Bracteoles sometimes present, minute. Ca-lyx campanulate-tubular, 6-7 mm, loosely to densely covered with short blackish and whitish hairs; teeth 3-3.5 mm. Petals pale yellow to whitish or purplish; standard oblong to elliptic, 14-17 × 5-6 mm; wings 11-13 mm; keel 8-10 mm. Legumes with a stipe 5-6 mm, obliquely elliptic to nearly narrowly semicircular as seen from side, with strongly curved ventral edge and nearly straight dorsal edge, strongly compressed later-ally, 10-15 mm, 5-6 mm high, sharply keeled ventrally, 1-locu-lar; valves glabrous, brownish.
