  一年生或二年生草本,被开展、白色柔毛。茎直立,高达80厘米,分枝,有细棱。羽状复叶有11-19(23)片小叶,长4-8厘米;叶柄长不及1厘米;托叶分离,狭披针形或钻形,长4-8毫米;小叶长圆形、倒卵状长圆形或长圆状椭圆形,长5-20毫米,宽2-6毫米,先端圆或略尖,基部钝或近楔形,小叶柄长不及1毫米。总状花序较密,生10-20花,长3.5-10厘米;总花梗长2-5厘米;苞片线形或刚毛状,长3-4.5毫米。花梗长1-1.5毫米;花萼斜钟状,长5-5.5毫米,萼筒长1.5-2毫米,萼齿线形或刚毛状,上边2齿较萼部短,下边3齿较长(长达4毫米);花冠紫色,旗瓣近倒卵形,长12-14毫米,宽6-8毫米,先端微缺,基部宽楔形,翼瓣长约10毫米,瓣片弯长圆形,长约7毫米,宽1-1.4毫米,先端钝,基部耳向外伸,瓣柄长约3毫米,龙骨瓣长约13毫米,瓣片近倒卵形,长8-9毫米,宽2-2.5毫米,瓣柄长约4.5毫米;子房有柄,被毛,柄长约1.5毫米。荚果线形,长1.5-2.5厘米,宽2-2.5毫米,先端凸尖喙状,直立,内弯,具横脉,假2室,含20-30颖种子,果颈短,长1.5-2毫米。种子淡褐色或褐色,肾形,长约1毫米,宽约1.5毫米,有斑点,平滑。花期7-9月,果期8-10月。
  产东北、华北、西北及山东、河南、四川北部。生于海拔400-2500米的山坡和河滩草地。原苏联、蒙古、朝鲜也有分布。
  全株可作饲料,大牲畜特别喜食,故有驴干粮之称。

Plants 15-65 cm tall; hairs thin, white, in inflorescence also black. Stems simple or branched, erect, with ± appressed hairs 0.3-1 mm. Leaves 3-8 cm; stipules greenish, 4-8 mm; petiole 0.3-1.5 cm, ± appressed hairy; leaflets in 4-9 pairs, narrowly elliptic, 7-20 × 2-6 mm, abaxially sparsely to loosely covered and adaxially glabrous or sparsely covered with ± appressed hairs up to 2 mm. Racemes rather densely up to 25-flowered, elongating in fruit to 15 cm; peduncle 1-3.5 cm, hairy like stem; bracts whitish, linear, 3-4 mm, ciliate. Calyx campanulate, 5-7 mm, loosely covered with appressed to spreading long hairs; teeth subulate, unequal, lower 3 teeth 3.5-5 mm, upper 2 teeth only 1.5-2 mm. Petals violet; standard elliptic, 10-15 × 6.5-9 mm, abruptly contracted into short claw, apex deeply V-like incised; wings 8-9 mm; keel 10-13 mm. Leg-umes with a stipe 1.5-2 mm, linear, distinctly to nearly semi-circular curved, 1.5-2.5 cm, 2-2.5 mm high and wide, keeled ventrally, deeply V-like grooved dorsally, with a beak 1.5-2 mm, completely 2-locular; valves gray-brown, loosely covered with nearly spreading hairs 0.3-1 mm.
